5-Week Postpartum Therapy Program

The goal of this program is to offer insightful support for new mothers navigating postpartum emotions, physical recovery, and the demands of caring for an infant. It helps foster emotional well-being and lays the foundation for a strong, healthy attachment with your baby.

The program begins with an individual consultation to determine if it’s the right fit for you. If so, it continues with two weekly sessions –one individual and one small group– exploring the experiences and challenges of the postpartum period. Each week centers on a theme we’ll deepen together, supported by daily emails offering reflections and insights relevant to this stage of life.

    Week 1: Individual Assessment

A one-hour evaluation will be conducted, to understand your current difficulties and symptoms, while exploring your personal history to provide context and tailor support.

Together, we will decide on the best treatment plan for you, and referrals will be made if needed.

    Week 2: Who am I?

During the first week, you’ll explore how everything has changed—your body, your sense of self, your relationships, and experiences of dependency.

The group session will be co-led by a Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Whether you are breastfeeding or not, we’ll cover nursing, pumping, feeding, and weaning, along with the emotions and thoughts connected to feeding choices and your identity as a mother.

Week 3: Who is the Baby?

The theme for the week is reflecting on your expectations versus the reality of having a baby, processing your birth story, and learning about infant development to better understand your baby and their experience.

We will explore the question: Who is this tiny person who now holds much of your time and emotions?

  • Week 4: The Parent-Infant Relationship

This week focuses on the parent–infant relationship.

Together, we’ll explore the interactions between you and your baby to better understand how you affect each other. You’ll also be introduced to key ideas about early development and the emotional connection between you and your baby—in ways that are simple, practical, and relatable.

  • Week 5: Integrating it All

This week centers on integrating your experience and exploring family relationships in a group session with a Licensed Couples and Family Therapist (having a partner not required).

We’ll reflect on what feels most meaningful for you, notice changes, and review your progress. Together, we’ll consider next steps and create a plan for ongoing care focused on the wellbeing of both you and your baby.
